A sequel to Dumb & Dumber has been “on again/off again” for years but a big step to making it so, has happened!
Directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly are VERY close to finishing the script for “Dumb and Dumber To,” an official sequel to the 1994 comedy “Dumb and Dumber.”
The brothers announced on twitter: “We are almost done with the ‘Dumb and Dumber To’ (sic) script… I think you’re going to like it.”
Back in June, actor Jim Carrey backed away, saying there was a lack of interest from Warner Bros. and New Line. Just two months later, however, co-star Jeff Daniels said things were back on.
“Jim wants to do it. I want to do it. The Farrellys want to do it,” he told Crave Online. “They want to rewrite the script a little bit and they aren’t trying to jam it in before I have to go back and do ‘Newsroom’ in November. So they’re going, ‘Why don’t we just do it right? Let’s get everybody organized to go next May or June.’ If everything works out on the business side, that’s what we’ll do but I think there’s more hope than ever.”
If filming does begin in the late spring / early summer of 2013, that would put “Dumb and Dumber To” on track for release in 2014. Which would be the 20 year anniversary of the original film.
